Beyond The Desk: You're Not Paying Me to Fix It - You're Paying Me Because I Know How

A lesson from a repairman that every hiring manager should understand.
A few years ago, I had a stove break down and needed it repaired quickly. Like many people, I'm a DIY guy. My first instinct is usually to grab a toolbox, watch a few videos, and figure it out. But this time, I called a repairman.

He showed up, looked at the problem, spent about 15 minutes making the repair, and the stove was working again. As I was pulling out the credit card, I jokingly said, "That seemed pretty easy." His response stuck with me.
"You're not paying me to fix it. You're paying me because I know how."
That simple statement applies to a lot more than appliance repair.
Many companies try to handle recruiting on their own. After all, how hard can it be to post a job, review resumes, and schedule interviews? Sometimes it works. But often, companies spend weeks or months searching for the right person while productivity suffers and opportunities are missed.
A good staffing firm brings expertise, relationships, recruiting technology, and market knowledge that most companies simply don't have in-house. Whether you're hiring contractors for a project or searching for a key internal employee, you're not paying a staffing company to post jobs. You're paying them because they know how to find, qualify, and deliver the right talent quickly.
The best staffing firms reduce hiring mistakes, shorten time-to-fill, and allow management to focus on running the business instead of sorting through resumes.
The same principle applies to staffing companies looking for a funding and back-office partner.
I take pride in the fact that my employer, Madison Resources, only play's in staffing. We understand temporary staffing, contract payroll, billing, collections, funding, payroll tax compliance, and the challenges that staffing owners face every day because that's all we do.
You don't choose Madison simply because we can fund payroll or process invoices. You choose Madison because we know how.
And when your business depends on making payroll every week, expertise matters.
